FAQs - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IS RINGETTE A LOT DIFFERENT THAN HOCKEY?
Ringette is very much different than hockey in many ways including equipment, rules, game play and strategy.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO REGISTER?
All costs are listed under the Registration tab on the website.

HOW MANY TIMES PER WEEK?
The Association tries to supply two ice times per week per team.  Each ice time is one hour long.  The League starts in October and runs to mid-March.

WHAT DIVISION WILL MY CHILD BE IN?
Acitve Start (formerly Learn to Play) - 4 and 5 year olds (geared to brand new players)
Fundamentals 1, 2, 3 - 6 - 9 year olds.  All players 9 and younger will be evaluated and placed in one of the three levels.
U12 - 10 & 11 year olds
U14 - 12 & 13 year olds
U16 - 14 & 15 year olds
U19 - 16, 17 & 18 year olds
18+ - 18 years and older

WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU NEED?
Standard protective hockey equipment - ringette approved face mask is mandatory - it has smaller triangular shaped openings.  Players are responsible for supplying a jersey and ringette pants for practices.  Saskatoon Ringette supplies uniforms for the games situations.  The U9 Division can use our uniforms for practices and games.

DOES MY CHILD NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SKATE?
NO! Our coaches are prepared to teach ALL players all the skills of ringette and skating to the best of the child's ability.

WHEN WILL ICE TIMES BE?
This can vary from year to year.  In the past most divisions get one ice time during the week and one ice time on the weekend.

WHERE ARE THE ICE TIMES?
Most ice slots are at the Lions, Cosmo and Schroh Arenas as well as the Legends Center and Diamond Arena in Warman but this may vary.

WHY JOIN RINGETTE?
It is a fun way to learn how to skate, improve sport skills and agility and improve your level of fitness while participating in a true team sport.  Both players and parents make new friends and expand their social circles.

HOW DO I REGISTER?
We offer online registration.  Registration will be open from mid-June to the end of July.  To get to the registration form use the registration tab at the top of the page.
